Donald N. Hope, MD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with subspecialty fellowship training in adult hip and knee reconstruction. He practices at Northeast Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, with locations in Live Oak, Schertz, and San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Hope specializes in primary hip and knee replacement, as well as complex and revision joint replacements.

Originally from Ohio, Dr. Hope completed an accelerated B.S./M.D. program at Youngstown State University and Northeast Ohio University College of Medicine, where he was selected for the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.

After obtaining his medical degree in 2010, Dr. Hope entered active duty in the United States Army, completing his orthopaedic surgery residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in 2016, including a year of research. During this time, he had the privilege of caring for our nations wounded warriors.

The Army selected Dr. Hope to undergo additional subspecialty fellowship training in Adult Reconstruction at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, focusing on complex hip and knee surgery, including total joints, revision surgery, and periprosthetic fracture management.

Upon completing his training in 2017, Dr. Hope served at San Antonio Military Medical Center, where he held various roles over time, including Chief of the Adult Reconstruction Service, Chair of the Enhanced Recovery after Surgery program, and Associate Residency Program Director for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety. He was honored with several teaching awards for graduate medical education through the orthopaedic surgery residency program.

During his active duty time, Dr. Hope deployed to Afghanistan as the Deputy Commander of Clinical Services at a NATO Role 2E Hospital and later to Iraq and Syria as the Chief Medical Officer for Operation Inherent Resolve.

Dr. Hope enjoys a subspecialty practice that allows him to implement personalized treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique needs. Additionally, he incorporates protocols and technology that facilitate rapid recovery after surgery.

Outside of orthopaedics, Dr. Hope spends time with his wife and four children. He enjoys riding horses and volunteers with the medical committee and Justin Sports Medicine Team at the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo.
