By the time the holiday season rolls around, Thanksgiving in particular, so much life has happened and perhaps some of us have not had the best of times. Through the hustle and bustle of life, we may forget to be thankful for the good things and the small things in our lives, or even worse, some of us may feel that there is nothing to be thankful for.
Looking on the bright side of things, there are always blessings in our midst. Perhaps we celebrated a milestone like the birth of a grandchild, a golden anniversary, or a landmark birthday. Perhaps we made a difference in the life of another whether we realized it or not.
We should always be thankful for family and friends, shelter and day to day sustenance. These things in this day and age are incredible blessings. But also, we can be thankful for the simple things that we might overlook, like the beauty in nature; those moments in life that give us great joy and laughter; discovering strength and resilience that we didn't know we had and those opportunities that each day offers us to start anew. All are blessings and we should be thankful for our experiences.
So starting with this Thanksgiving, let's make an effort to be kind to one another as it will lead to more things to be thankful for. Enjoy your family and friends like this is the last Thanksgiving and remember that those little irritants pale in comparison to the love that we can and should show each other. Often times, the way we behave towards someone can be contagious, so make it awesome, remberable and something that someone can be thankful for.
May God bless you and your family this Thanksgiving and may He give you many more to come.
Happy Thanksgiving from the NEO family to yours!
